James Morgan
James Morgan
About
James was called to the Bar in 2026. He appears in all criminal matters in all courts including sentences, hearings, release applications, trials, and appeals.
Before coming to the Bar, James worked as a Tipstaff to the Hon Justice Ian Harrison at the Supreme Court in 2023. He commenced as a solicitor in criminal defence at Murphy's Lawyers Inc and later The People's Solicitors. Through each of those experiences and the mentorship and opportunities he was lucky enough to be given, his advocacy is characterised by passion, research, common sense and empathy, and he has achieved outcomes for clients in the Local, the District and the Supreme Court.
James's advocacy is particularly motivated by an interest in upholding equality and diversity through the law, and protecting the rights and the liberties of accused persons regardless of their cultural or socioeconomic background, gender identity or sexuality.
Outside of the Bar James also captains a cricket team, is leading an ongoing inquiry into Sydney's matcha scene (since 2015!), does yoga and zealously backs the mighty Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
